Bill Is Back

By Matthew Davis · On March 2, 2017

Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill Nye the science guy.

We all know that sound; I know you sang it when you read it.

That’s right, he’s back; the science guy is coming back with a new show on Netflix, premiering April 21, 2017, entitled Bill Nye Saves The World. Each episode is intended to show topics from a scientific point of view in order to refute both myths and “anti-scientific claims that may be espoused by politicians, religious leaders or titans of industry.” Bill Nye fans are saying that the timing with this new show couldn’t possibly be better, given Donald Trump’s administration’s claims of “fake news.” However, Netflix has announced that this show is not in response to the election, as it started filming in August and ended filming in October.

The science guy is namely famous for the 1990’s, Emmy award-winning, kid-friendly series called “Bill Nye the Science Guy.” This new show, however, will not be a children’s program; it is, instead, a talk show, which may upset fans unaccustomed to the new format. Mr. Nye has said that there will be guests, a panel of experts, a monologue, and some comedy bits that he thinks will be brilliant. He never fails to throw in a dose of lighthearted humor.

Bill Nye hopes that his show will be picked up for a second season, but says that there are no guarantees. In the meantime, he is releasing a new children’s book series called “Jack and the Geniuses” and an adult’s general interest book, “Everything All at Once: How Nerds Solve Problems.”

Mr. Nye is thinking of attending the March for Science on April 22 in Washington, D.C. He wants to keep up doing what he can in order to ensure that science and critical thinking have a place in politics. He hopes his Netflix shows influence people, saying, “We’ll see what happens, but I’m very proud of the show.”

Bill Nye Saves The World will air on Netflix April 21 of this year.
