The movies are a source of entertainment around the world. This year many amazing movies have come out into theaters. Suicide Squad is one of them.
Suicide Squad is the newest movie that the D.C. comic Universe has put out. The basic idea of the movie is that the government rounded up all the bad guys they had in prison and formed an expendable contingency group in case something ever happened to the real heroes. The group consists of Harley Quinn a.k.a. Dr. Harleen Quinzel, Deadshot a.k.a. Floyd Lawton, Killer Croc, El Diablo a.k.a., Enchantress a.k.a. June Moone, Captain Boomerang, and Slipknot. Right now you’re probably wondering: how do they keep all these bad guys in check? Well, Amanda Waller, the person who runs the operation, had implanted an explosive device in their necks so if they try to escape, BOOM! One of the good guys backing her up is June Moone’s boyfriend, Rick Flag. Rick Flag is a Special Ops military guy. Another one is Katana, one of the last Samurai, who wields a sword that traps the souls of its victims. The Suicide Squad is called into action when Enchantress awakens her brother in a N.Y.C. subway.
Overall I enjoyed the movie, however there were some drawbacks. The writers gave Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and El Diablo a full back story, while others weren’t given nearly as much time, such as Killer Croc, Slipknot, and Captain Boomerang. It felt uneven; if they were going to do more drawn out backstories then they needed to do that for all of them, or vice versa. Another complaint is that the actors who played certain people in the movies didn’t play them in the T.V. shows on CW. Some examples are Deadshot is played by Will Smith in movies but, in the TV shows (Arrow and The Flash), Deadshot is played by Michael Rowe. Michael Rowe and Will Smith don’t even look alike. Also, Amanda Waller, and Captain Boomerang on the TV show movie at least look a little bit alike, though their differences are still noticeable.
On the bright side, I enjoyed the acting in this film. Will Smith, Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), and Cara Delavigne (Enchantress/June Moone) are amazing actors. Whenever their characters were feeling something you didn’t have to look at their face to see the emotion you could hear it in their voice. They really got into their characters and understood how they felt, and thought. Another thing I liked was the comedic relief provided by Deadshot, Rick Flag, and Harley Quinn. Harley had a playful sense of humor while Deadshot, and Rick Flag had a dry sarcastic humor that I found hilarious.
This movie has something for everyone, Romance from Harley Quinn and the Joker’s brief appearances, and June Moone (Enchantress) and Rick Flag. It has plenty of action during the numerous fight scenes. There is also a creepy vibe when Enchantress takes over June. Overall I recommend you see it while it’s still in theaters.
