Live music, food, and a bouncy castle: what more could you ask for? Over the weekend, the third annual Rocktoberfest was held at Casey Jones, and all of that and more was going on. Music was playing almost constantly, from a high school band to a local Charles County rock group. For kids, there was face painting, done by the La Plata National Art Honor Society, and a bouncy castle (although personally, I think that’s for all ages). For the adults, there was of course drinks and food and loud music, although from the sweet dance moves from some of the younger attendees, it was for them too.
There was a lot of local businesses there, which was great to see, as I hadn’t heard of a lot of them, and am now considering visiting. For example, there was Shop 53, which was an art and tattoo studio. Right next to their booth was a Boutique table, which was filled with fun little trinkets, mostly for Halloween, and sugar skulls which seemed to be a theme. Not far from that was a dance studio that is actually not very far from my house. Watching them actually made me kind of jealous. It was impressive to say the least.
I think events like this are really good for the community. It really brings people together and gives them a look of what’s going on in town. I had never heard of a lot of the businesses and studios that were at the event, and it was really cool seeing what was around. It’s also great for a place just to hang out. Events go on in town, and everyone can just get together, have fun, maybe even meet some new people or catch up with old friends. In conclusion, it was great, and I can’t wait for next year’s Rocktoberfest.
