Legally Blonde: La Plata’s Spring Musical

By Matthew Davis · On April 25, 2017

La Plata’s Thespian society has been working hard these past few months on their spring musical, Legally Blonde, which will be performed from April 27- April 29. Legally Blonde (the musical), starring Morgan Abresch as Elle Woods, Zack Farri as Emmett Forrest, and Hayden Edwards as Warner Huntington, is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner.

Some of our talented cast include Morgan Abresch (senior), Hayden Edwards (junior), and Zach Farri (senior), who have all participated in past school plays. Including this play, this will be Hayden Edwards’ seventh time performing with La Plata High School (LPHS). So far, Hayden has been a part of the cast in Little Foxes, Adams Family, and more. Meanwhile, this will be Morgan Abresch’s eighth time performing in a play at La Plata High School. Additionally, Zack Farri has been in five performances at LPHS, including The Grinch, Ripcord, Sweet Charity, Jingle Jury, and Legally Blonde.

Legally Blonde will be both Farri and Abresch’s last performance with La Plata thespians. Don’t worry though, they’ll still be acting after graduation. Farri plans to study acting and theater arts at Towson in the fall, and, after graduation, Abresch plans on doing a couple years at the College of Southern Maryland to get her general education classes out of the way. After she gets those classes out of the way, Abresch wants to attend a performing arts school for a future in acting.

If you like comedy, dancing, singing, and mystery, come over to La Plata High School to witness a wonderful musical performance by the La Plata High School Thespians group, directed by Mrs.Joyner with musical accompaniment from Mrs.Eckerle and her band students.
